Created by Presidential Proclamation in 1986, National Garden Month encourages everyone to join in planting events, education efforts, ceremonies and additional gardening activities. 

Public gardens are asked to participate in this national “green fair” by host events to show how gardening transforms lives and communities. 

The event kicks of in April at the National Garden in Washington, DC. This industry wide initiative joins organizers National Gardening Association with green industry leaders Ball Horticultural, Star Roses, SoilSoup and Wolf-Garten, trade associations and garden retail centers to raise the national level awareness of the benefits of gardening.
