The 2022 report shows the shift that has occurred in the green industry and beyond. It goes past ‘The Great Reset’ of 2021 and guides us through the customer mindset to better fit green products and services into this post-pandemic lifestyle.
The 2022 Garden Trends Report shows how we’ve moved past the crisis – to innovate. According to the report, people are discovering more personal freedom – whether finding time to renovate spaces or transforming how they meet, learn, and stay connected. This time, economic strength won’t come from inventions, technology, systems, or data. Individuals seeking to overcome stagnation in their lives drive innovation.
“We are coming into an era of personal freedom,” said Katie Dubow, president of Garden Media Group. “In 2022, many will take a leap they might not have had the choice or courage to make otherwise.”
The industry will continue to find ways to teach and connect with the 18.3 million new gardeners. The report outlines ways to keep those new gardeners interested and educated, including virtual events like Great Grow Along and more hybrid, interactive seminars, webinars, and classes.
Buying products directly from social platforms and websites, known as Shoppertainment, is another trend predicted to catch the consumers’ eye, making shopping online easier and boosting direct sales and visits to websites.
“We’re done holding our breath in anticipation of what will happen to green businesses,” said Dubow. “Our industry has grown exponentially, now is the time to make big moves to keep this new customer. The 2022 trends show a bright future for garden brands.”
